Sales of single-family homes and condominiums continued at a record pace in January, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors said. Condo sales increased 34.2 percent compared to January 2004, while single-family home sales were up 2 percent from last January. The median sale price for single-family homes was $340,450 in January, a gain of 7.4 percent over January 2004. The median price for condos was $269,000, a 17 percent increase. The total number of single-family home sales fell from 3,959 in December 2004 to 2,673 last month -- down 32.5 percent -- while condo sales fell from 1,584 to 1,185 over the same period. The realtors association said those monthly decreases are typical for the season. (AP)
